Renewal SA on the hunt for a new head

The South Australia government will soon begin a search for a new Chief Executive for Renewal SA, following the announcement that the incumbent, Chris Menz, has resigned.

Menz had been in the role since February 2020, having previously served as a Project Director at Renewal SA and Executive Director, Communities and Health at Commercial & General.

Menz will stay on at Renewal SA until mid-September to help ensure a seamless transition. A government statement said that he is leaving to pursue opportunities in the private sector.

The statement said that the SA Government “thanks him for his service and achievements and we wish him the best for the future”.

Renewal SA is the state’s property development agency. Its work includes:

  • Increasing the amount and availability of affordable housing;
  • Accelerating the supply of housing in regional areas;
  • Unlocking land for industrial and commercial developments;
  • Contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions to reach the state’s target of net carbon zero by 2050.

The agency will continue with oversight from the Minister for Housing and Urban Development along with Renewal SA’s Board of Management, which is chaired by Stephen Hains.
