The NSW Privacy Commissioner investigates and conciliates complaints about breaches of privacy, advises government agencies, businesses, and other organisations on how to ensure the right to privacy is protected. The commissioner also oversees privacy breaches reported by state government agencies.

“The commissioner plays an important role in ensuring accountability in NSW government by ensuring the public sector handles personal information responsibly and take steps to prevent and manage any data breaches,” Dib said.
