The Heritage Council of NSW has called on communities to nominate their local heritage hero for a NSW Government award.
The 2010 NSW Government Heritage Volunteer Awards pay tribute to individuals and organisations who have contribute to the management or promotion of heritage in their local community.
Chair of the Heritage Council of NSW, Gabrielle Kibble, said the awards would be presented within 10 broad categories of heritage work: Aboriginal; archaeological; built; cultural; engineering; landscape and garden; maritime; movable; multicultural and natural.
“Whether their contribution is through education, fundraising, historical research, interpretation, management, physical conservation, promotion or undertaking surveys and studies – this is the community’s chance to acknowledge the wonderful work undertaken by volunteers,” Ms Kibble said.
“We welcome nominations from community groups, individuals, heritage consultants and advisors, local councils, conservation and heritage organisations and government agencies.”
Nominations close on Friday 17 September 2010.
