Nominations open for human rights awards

The Australian Human Rights Commission is calling for nominations for this year’s Human Rights Medals and Awards.

The awards recognise individuals and organisations who have made outstanding  efforts to protect human rights in Australia, through community work, law, writing and the media.

Nominations are being called for the Human Rights Medal, the Young People’s Human Rights Medal and seven award categories.

Entries close Friday October 2, 2009. Awards will be presented at a gala luncheon ceremony on Human Rights Day, Thursday December 10, 2009 at the Sheraton on the Park in Sydney.
