New head of Queensland South Bank Corp

The Queensland Government has appointed a new chief executive of the South Bank Corporation.

Urban planner Julia Scodellaro will head the government statutory authority – established in 1989 to develop and manage the South Bank Parklands lifestyle precinct on the southern bank of the Brisbane River.

With Brisbane gearing up for the 2032 Olympic Games, Scodellaro joins the corporation at a pivotal time for the 42-hectare precinct, which attracts more than 14 million visitors a year.

“In the lead up to 2032 and beyond, Julia will lead the transformation of the South Bank precinct into a new era of growth benefiting the local community and tourism industry,” Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie said.

Scodellaro has 12 years’ experience in senior management roles at South Bank Corporation. She started at the authority in 2013 as senior development manager and previously played a key role in the construction of the precinct’s $600 million Southpoint development.

“Julia’s strong experience, knowledge of the precinct and understanding of South Bank’s opportunities and unique challenges make her the right person for the role,” Bleijie said.

South Bank Corporation chair Susan Forrester said Scodellaro was “an advocate for world-class integrated precinct management” with a passion for South Bank’s future potential.
