Two new members have been appointed to the Airservices Australia board.
Susan Ferrier and Douglas Bain have joined the government-owned organisation – which is responsible for managing 11 per cent of the world’s airspace, and providing aviation rescue fire-fighting services at Australia’s busiest airports.

Ferrier brings more than 30 years’ experience working with boards across major Australian and international banking corporations, consulting and legal firms.
No stranger to Airservices Australia, Ferrier has served as the independent chair of the organisation’s culture reform board since August 2024. She also sits on the Symphony Orchestra and Financial Executives Institute boards, and is a people & culture committee member at the University of Sydney.

Bain is an experienced chartered accountant with demonstrated financial expertise. He has more than 30 years of experience working across the construction, infrastructure, property and resources sectors.
A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Bain currently serves on several boards, including Odyssey House New South Wales.
“I congratulate both new members and look forward to continuing to work with the Airservices board to ensure our aviation industry remains among the safest in the world,” Minister for Transport Catherine King said.
Ferrier and Bain have been appointed on four and three-year terms respectively.
