The Visual Media Association (VMA), the peak industry body representing 220,000 direct employees across the paper, print, sign, publishing, packaging, mail and distribution sectors has released an industry-specific environmental certification standard for print and sign industry sectors – Sustainable Green Print + Sign (SGP+S).
SGP+S offers a scalable and verifiable framework for reducing waste, achieving compliance, and advancing net-zero targets whilst supporting sovereign supply chain goals for reduced footprint. With 91% of print and sign businesses already acting on emissions and waste, SGP+S is a ready-made standard for the sector.

SGP+S has been independently verified by SGS Australia whose formal audit confirmed that the program is built on sector best practice, environmental regulations, and alignment with clear pathway options to ISO14001:2015.
SGP+S is supported by an online reporting and spot auditing tool for print procurement teams and print and visual media businesses to report on targets, achievements and results in real-time.
75.68% of businesses are aligned with the VMA, ensuring consistent environmental standards across the sector.

VMA is engaging all Government Ministers to drive support for the industry endorsed gold-standard calling for print procurement teams across government departments to include SGP+S in tendering and estimating processes. Building an industry-specific standard will ensure products are manufactured in Australia to high environmental standards with strong targets for ongoing continuous improvements and innovations.
SGP+S provides the only environmental certification program for industry aligned to ISO14001.
