Through a tender process, CA Technologies has been selected to provide a software solution that would help government rail businsess Victorian Rail Track manage and support a significant increase in project workload.
VicTrack is the Victorian Government rail business that owns almost all Victoria’s railway land and infrastructure, most of which is controlled and maintained by other parties, mainly Metro Trains Melbourne and V/Line.
CA Clarity’s project and portfolio management (PPM) software assists in more managing VicTrack’s governance methodology and project visibility across its three areas of business; telecommunications; capital projects; and property.
The software can also help deliver Capital Projects, Property and Telco projects to support transport and other government priorities.
VicTrack Capital Projects’ general manager Ian Davidson said through the tender process, the CA Technologies presented a viable product for the organisation.
“There were a number of factors that we considered when making our final decision, including the depth of the CA Clarity PPM technology – ranging from providing analysis and management reporting capabilities to the ability for VicTrack to better align projects with business strategy,” he said.
“Another factor in our decision was CA Technologies excellent reputation amongst both State and Federal Governments and its substantial presence in the state of Victoria.”
This contract was awarded in September 2011 and will be implemented over a six month period and comprises of supplying software, support, education and services.
