Transit Systems has appointed former State Transit chief Daniela Fontana as its new Managing Director.

Daniella Fontana

Transit Systems operates 11 depots across NSW, with 1200 buses and 2400 staff and 58 million customer journeys a year.

In her new role, Ms Fontana will be responsible for overseeing Transit System’s fleet of 1,210 buses and 79 zero emission buses, as well as Australia’s first fully electric depot.

CEO Michael McGee said Ms Fontana brings with her over 20 years of extensive experience in the transport industry, including as CEO of the now defunct State Transit Authority between 2020-22, and a reputation for delivering safe, reliable and efficient services.

“Her collaborative approach and ability to align strategic and operational plans with key stakeholders have driven success and we’re proud to welcome her onboard,” he said.

Ms Fontana said she would work to ensure Transit Systems continues to deliver high standards of safety, service, innovation and sustainability, and develop innovative recruitment and training programs.

“I have always believed that transport is key to connection in communities, and that cities that keep moving are successful ones,” she said in a statement.

“Transit Systems’ investment into the next generation of technology and recruitment is incredibly proactive and progressive, and it’s an exciting time to be driving forward with projects and campaigns that make a positive and powerful impact on the industry.”

Ms Fontana takes over from industry veteran Jamie Sinclair.
