Western Australian councils are invited to apply for state government grants to organise activities for the 2011 National Youth Week.
WA Youth Minister Donna Faragher announced on Friday that grants of up to $1000 were available to community organisations and local government authorities to plan events around the annual National Youth Week.
Held from April 1-10, the 2011 National Youth Week will raise awareness of youth issues and highlight the achievements of young Australians.
Ms Faragher said it was vital that young people remained connected to their local communities.
“The Department of Communities, Office for Youth is providing support for community groups and local governments to assist them celebrate their young people,” she said in a statement.
“National Youth Week is just one way that we, as a community, can acknowledge the achievements, creativity and enthusiasm of our young people; offer them support by sharing information; and involve them in planning their own celebrations.”
