Joe Hockey’s naked parade

By Angela Dorizas

If the Federal Government delivers on its commitment to build a second airport for Sydney, the Federal Opposition frontbencher Joe Hockey will parade naked through the city’s central business precinct. That was the pledge made by Mr Hockey during a joint interview with Federal Transport Minister Anthony Albanese on 2UE radio.

"I tell you what, I will make this promise – and it’s not a pretty promise, but I will make it – [I] will walk naked through Martin Place in Sydney the day this government builds a second airport outside of the Sydney basin," Mr Hockey said.

Mr Albanese said the government was "committed to it happening."

"We think that Sydney needs a second airport," he said.

"It’s something I’ve been committed to for decades. It’s unfortunate that governments of both persuasions have talked about it but haven’t acted."
