Hinchinbrook Shire Council Mayor Ramon Jayo said Ms Uren had demonstrated exceptional leadership in her previous role, and she would lead a new era of progress and innovation at Hinchinbrook.

“Her impressive track record and executive leadership skills make her the ideal candidate to lead Hinchinbrook Shire Council into a promising future,” he said in a statement.

Ms Uren has broad experience in business, education and training and law and has worked with an international diversified resources company, educational institutions, legal firms and local governments, including Central Highlands Regional Council.

At an executive level, she has overseen Governance, Workplace Health and Safety, Corporate Communications, Audit and Risk, Strategic Advocacy and more recently External Affairs.

Ms Uren’s new job as CEO begins on November 13. Until then, Michelle Webster will remain as interim CEO, a position she was appointed to following the resignation in May of Kelvin Tytherleigh to become General Manager at Moree Plains Council in northern NSW.
