Jackie Huggins appointed to 2020 steering committee

Historian and Indigenous leader Jackie Huggins has become the second woman to be appointed to the steering committee of the April 2020 ideas summit.

Dr Huggins will join actress Cate Blanchett on the panel after the withdrawal of Aboriginal surgeon Kelvin Kong due to family health concerns.

Dr Huggins, a woman of the Bidjara Birri-Gubba Juru peoples, is currently deputy director of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit at the University of Queensland.

She will co-chair the committee on Indigenous affairs in the Canberra ideas conference.
