Mr chandler notified the government on July 28 that he would be resigning on November 30, a year before his term was supposed to end on September 2023, saying it was “time for a reset’.

However on Friday small business and fair trading minster Victor Dominello said Mr Chandler would remain in the role unto August 23.

The minister said Mr Chandler had made significant contributions to building industry reform in NSW and he was happy the work could continue under Mr Chandler’s leadership.

“Mr Chandler is a highly respected industry leader and his commitment to the year ahead ensures we will maintain momentum in lifting customer confidence across residential building and construction in NSW,” Mr Dominello said in a statement.

Mr Chandler will work closely with Property Services Commissioner John Minns on industry reform, including across the strata sector and he will continue to deliver key projects, including Project Remediate and a new initiative known as Project Intervene.

He will also work to progress Construct NSW, which focuses on key areas of industry reform including regulation, ratings, education, contracts, digital tools and data and research.

“Much has been achieved in the past two years but there is still more to be done to establish NSW’s residential building and construction market as the most trusted and customer-centric in the country,” Mr Chandler said in a statement.

“I am looking forward to continuing the work we have started.”
