New president at LGAT

Break O’Day Council Mayor Mick Tucker takes up his role as the new president of Tasmania’s local government association next week.

Mr Tucker, whose election was announced earlier this month, has been LGAT’s vice president since 2021, says he looks forward to representing the sector for the next two years.

“I have been passionately advocating for local government for many years and will continue to work closely with elected members from all corners of Tasmania”, he said in a statement.

Outgoing President Christina Holmdahl said it have been an honour to serve as LGAT president for the last two terms.

“I congratulate Mayor Tucker on his appointment as President and know he will provide passionate leadership for the sector”, she said.

LGAT CEO Dion Lester thanked Cr Holmdahl for her hard work and dedication, describing her as an outstanding President.

“Our sector has benefited greatly from her years of experience,” he said.

A vice president will be elected at LGAT’s Annual General Meeting on June 30.
