Translink exec to lead Queensland TMR

Transport strategist Sally Stannard has been appointed the new director general of transport and main roads in Queensland.

Ms Stannard, who has been acting in the role since June, has wide experience in the public and private sectors across Queensland, NSW and Victoria.

She has worked in the transport sector for 16 years, including a as a senior executive in the state’s public transit agency the Translink Transit Authority.

Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey said Ms Stannard is known for her proactive approach to service delivery, operational management and industry engagement.

“Ms Stannard has a deep understanding of the Department of Transport and Main Road’s public transport, planning and investment decisions, as well as innovative learnings from the private sector,” he said.

Ms Stannard said she would ensure the state’s transport systems are fit for purpose and agile.

“I am committed to furthering TMR’s vision of creating an integrated and sustainable transport system that is accessible to all Queenslanders and I look forward to continue working with the incredible team at the Department of Transport and Main Roads,” she said.
