Former DPC head Michael Coutts-Trotter has been appointed Secretary of NSW Treasury after acting in the role for the past month.
Mr Coutts-Trotter was appointed acting secretary last month, replacing Paul Grimes, as part of Premier Chris Minns’ planned MoG changes.
Mr Coutts-Trotter began his parliamentary carer as chief of staff to the then NSW Treasurer Michael Egan before joining the public service.
He was first appointed to head a NSW Government department in 2004 and has since led seven agencies.
Treasurer Daniel Mookhey said he was delighted Mr Coutts-Trotter had agreed to say on as permanent Treasury Secretary.
“He brings an unparalleled understanding of the NSW Public Service. His intellect, leadership and experience will be invaluable to myself and the NSW Government as we manage the fiscal and economic challenges ahead of us,” Mr Mookey said.
The Department of Premier and Cabinet, formerly headed by Mr Coutts-Trotter, will be dissolved from July 1 and replaced by a new Cabinet Office and separate Premier’s Department.
Long-time NSW public servant Peter Duncan, a former Roads and Maritime CEO and deputy DPC director General, has been appointed acting DPC secretary and will lead the establishment of the two new entities.
Mr Grimes has left the public service.
