Child care vacancies to go online

By Staff Writer

Child care providers will soon be required to display vacancies online, under new changes to reporting requirements.

Federal Minister for Early Childhood Education and Child Care, Kate Ellis, announced that all child care services will be required to report the number of vacant places for each day of the week.

The vacancy information will be made available to families via the Child Care Access Hotline and, in an Australian first, via a new website.

The My Child website will feature a searchable database providing information on child care locations, fees, services and learning programs.

Ellis said the changes reflected the Government’s commitment to greater transparency.
