Brisbane councillor banned from meetings

By Staff Writer

A Brisbane councillor has been barred from council meetings after mistreatment of council officers, local media are reporting.

Tennyson councillor, Nicole Johnston, was reprimanded by the council last week for a breach of the code of conduct after allegedly mistreating staff at a meeting with a neighbourhood planning group.

Brisbane Lord Mayor Campbell Newman told media that the council’s chief executive officer took action against Cr Johnston after a series of complaints.
“This has nothing to do with her ward performance,” Cr Newman said.
An independent review panel recommended the LNP councillor be barred from council and committee meetings for eight days.
Cr Johnston will return to council meetings on November 10.
