The City of Melbourne has a new chief executive

The City of Melbourne has appointed Dr Kathy Alexander as its new Chief Executive, following a unanimous decision at a special council meeting.

Dr Kathy Alexander, former CEO of Women’s & Children’s Health, comes to the role with a national reputation for stakeholder and community engagement and has extensive experience in leading large and complex organisations.
Lord Mayor John So said Kathy was chosen from a field of high-calibre candidates.

“We believe Kathy has the experience to lead staff and ensure Melbourne continues to thrive as a dynamic city,” the Lord Mayor said.

The search for a new Chief Executive began in November last year, following the departure of former Chief Executive David Pitchford after three and a half years in the role.
The three-year contract will begin on 10 April this year with remuneration of $390,000.
