The NSW Government has given a $536 million funding boost to Service NSW in this week’s budget, with a focus on digital services.
Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Victor Dominello said this funding will go towards the continued roll out of programs, services and digital solutions.
“We want to put the customer at the centre of everything we do, and this investment will take us to a new level of service delivery,” he said in a statement.
“Service NSW is the front door to more than 1,000 government services, and with our additional investment in digital identity and upgrades to the Service NSW app, more of these services will be accessible via your smartphone.
These services include the new products of the digital birth certificate and the NSW education wallet along with online renewals of Working with Children Checks, NDIS Worker Checks and occupational licences using photo-matching technology.
The funding will also be used to support communities in the wake of natural disasters, such as floods, Mr Dominello said.
“This funding will enable Service NSW to continue to provide vital services and support to families and businesses in their hour of need.”
Digital transformation continues to be a priority for the government and funding has been allocated for further intakes of Digital Restart Fund projects in 2022-23.
“This funding is from the record $2.1 billion set aside to invest in digital transformation and cyber uplift projects through the DRF,” Mr Dominello said.
DRF funds multi-disciplinary approaches to planning, designing and developing digital products and services in NSW.
Since 2013, Service NSW has opened 112 Service Centres across the state with another five planned to be completed by 2023.
Two new mobile service centres have been added to the four currently on the road in regional and rural areas.
