NT Local Government Minister resigns

The Northern Territory Government has announced the resignation of Elliot McAdam as Minister for Local Government.

“Mr McAdam has given everything to the tough job of implementing the important local government reforms – but we’ve both agreed it’s time to give someone else a go,” Chief Minister Paul Henderson said in a statement.
“The Cabinet has supported my decision to proceed with local government reform with the exception of the Top End Shire.
“Unfortunately Mr McAdam said he can’t support that cabinet decision and we have mutually agreed that a new set of hands completes the reform package where it’s needed most – the bush."

Mr Henderson said that everyone who knew Mr McAdam "regards him as a man of honesty and integrity".
The former Local Government Minister will continue serving as the Member for Barkly.

Mr McAdam’s resignation is effective immediately and a replacement is expected to be named today (February 14).
