Managed hosting and telecommunications vendor, Macquarie Telecom has been appointed as a member of the Telecommunications Internet Based Network Connections (IBNC) Panel, established by the Department of Finance and Deregulation, for the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO).

As part of its position on the panel, Macquarie Telecom will provide Internet Protocol Carriage Services (IPCS) and Major Internet Connection Services (MICS) to underpin the delivery of business services across the internet for government agencies.

The INBC Panel was set up to ensure accessibly, availability and efficient use of resources as part of the Government’s co-ordinated procurement approach.

Macquarie Telecom managing director, Aidan Tudehope said the appointment means the vendor will work within strict governmental requirements.

“We operate secure and accredited networks and data centres in Australia with Defence Signals Directorate (DSD) Gateway certification, ASIO T4
‘Intruder Resistant’ certification and ISO27001:2006 Information Security Management certification,” he said.

“The panel will enable the Australian Government to maximise the benefits of ubiquitous broadband as the NBN becomes a reality.”

Macquarie Telecom provides IBNC type services to a range of federal government agencies as well as internet gateways and managed security services.

The service provider will sit alongside Telstra, Optus, Nextgen, Verizon, AAPT, TransACT and Fujitsu who have also been appointed to the panel.
