Speaking at the forum, managing director for IBM Australia and New Zealand Andrew Stevens urged the Government to accelerate the reform process and to utilise technology to drive reform and enable it to deliver more efficient, effective and tailored services to citizens.
“IBM commends the Australian government on its ‘Blueprint for Reform’ strategy, its forward thinking Government 2.0 declaration,” he said.
“As well as the recent National Digital Economy Strategy - all of which recommend fundamental reforms in the delivery of public services to Australian citizens,” he said.
The event was designed to discuss how to fast track these necessary changes by removing roadblocks and identifying the key steps needed for the public sector to undertake these important reforms.
IBM’s global leader, global business services human and social services practice, Dr Chris Gibbon told Government News government agencies needed to prioritise projects and change their attitudes about working collaboratively.
“The pace of change needs to be accelerated and prioritised to address the challenges of government in an increasing complex world,” he said.
