One of Australia’s largest business and technology tradeshows, CeBIT opened its doors today.

The event running from 31 May to 2 June runs the entire spectrum of the ICT industry across four halls and 19 show floor categories at Darling Harbour, Sydney New South Wales.

More than 500 exhibitors will present their solutions and products in areas from cloud computing, unified communications and security to retail, geospatial, mobile devices and hardware.

Among this year’s exhibitors are technology giants such as Dell, Samsung, Telstra, Hitachi, NEC, D-Link, Acer, Motorola, Hewlett-Packard or Sharp and a number of start-ups.

There will be numerous international exhibitors from 15 nations including China, India, USA, United Kingdom and Japan, as well as from the official partner country, Germany.

One of the main focuses of this year’s exhibition is Unified Communications. Dell (Stand
C25, Hall 2) – the largest exhibition stand in CeBIT Australia 2011 – will present new solutions around Windows 7 migration and management, virtualisation and end-user computing.

Samsung (Stand D1, Hall2) will showcase its 2011 range of mobile PC and cloud computing solutions as well as high-performance printers and the latest in digital imaging technology. Telstra’s stand (Stand E1, Hall 2), tailored to small- and medium-sized businesses, and visually demonstrates what is possible with mobile devices, Microsoft CRM, unified communications, video conferencing and touch screen display tables.

On the Wireless/Networks show floor, D-Link Australia and New Zealand (Stand D10, Hall 2) will display its products in wireless, switching, security, storage and IP surveillance.

Visitors will be able to witness live video conferences at their stand on a telepresence system.

A number of conference programs will be directed at government attendees.

CeBIT Australia will host ‘Cloud Computing Conference 2011’ which aims to address questions surrounding reliability and security in the cloud, as well as governance and compliance with each organisation's requirements.

Cloud providers such as Dell and Telstra, Xero and Thinprint will showcase products and solutions at the conference.

The eGovernment Forum will explore the ever evolving role of technology and the benefits to be gained through collaboration in shaping the future of government service.

Delegates to the eGovernment Forum will have the opportunity to hear and discuss how technology - in engaging and empowering the community - has increasingly become the major driver in formulating the way that government and business deliver services to their community.

Speakers at the forum includes; Ann Steward Australian Government chief information officer; Gary Gray, special minister of state; and Graham Walker Director, Race Online 2012, Office of the UK Digital Champion.

The eHealth conference brings together policy makers, healthcare providers, decision makers and end-users in an information exchange and case study showcase for the health sector.

With the 2011-2012 Federal Budget putting emphasis on IT procurement and health, these topics will be an insightful look at how technology will play part in government projects.
