Government workers experience information rage

Administrative workers employed by local and other governments around Australia are feeling, as much as those in any other sector, the enormous pressure of being increasingly bombarded with information.

A recent survey has confirmed something desk workers have known for ages: many Australian professionals are feeling so demoralised by the sheer volume of information that comes their way each day, their effectiveness and productivity is being affected.

The survey, conducted by LexisNexis, quizzed 1700 white-collar workers in Australia, the United States, China, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

The survey does not paint a pretty picture. It is, rather, one of offices full of frazzled workers bickering with each other and failing to deliver as they rapidly disappear in a quicksand of information.

The survey found that among Australia workers, 49 per cent of professionals felt dejected and frustrated to the point of experiencing “information rage”. Read More>>
