Victoria's road authorities have taken a step towards easing congestion by launching an application that gives real-time updates on traffic incidences.
The new free VicRoads iPhone app will provide information about travel times, traffic updates and incident alerts for drivers.
Launching the iPhone app, VicTraffic, along with a new VicRoads’ Facebook customer service page, Roads and Ports Minister Tim Pallas said the app would be available to all Victorians.
“It’s a free application and easy to use, with VicRoads to seek feedback from users to build on the information already provided,” he said.
Developed by VicRoads, the application will give users live traffic vision from 40 cameras across Melbourne, as well as information about Victoria’s freeways and major roads.
VicRoads’ Facebook customer service page will allow customers to ask questions online with answers provided without having to call or visit a Customer Service Centre.
“By developing new ways to deliver information to the public, VicRoads is keeping drivers up to date with modern technology to make it easier to plan trips and access customer services,” Mr Pallas said.
