The ACT Government has launched a new website providing a report card on life in the nation's capital.
Measuring Our Progress provides a snap-shot of life in Canberra against 28 indicators, including health, education, sustainability and safety.
The report card showed improvements in 16 of the 28 performance areas, including life expectancy, employment, child protection, education standards and participation in sport.
Chief Minister Jon Stanhope said the online report card keeps record of the progress made towards developing a healthier, safer and more prosperous Canberra.
“The advantage of tracking these trends is that the Government can respond with policies and programs that will lead to a better report card next year,” he said in a statement.
“The web-based report will be updated as new data is released and will be used to inform community engagement and the development of government policy.”
Mr Stanhope said the report card was just part of a wider program to improve performance and accountability across the ACT Government.
An updated performance and accountability framework is expected to be released before the end of the year.
