Sony recently introduced the powerful new additions to its IPELA network camera line-up, including the first megapixel fixed-type camera, the SNC-CM120 Megapixel Network Camera. Specially designed for use in security applications, the picture quality captured by the 1.3 megapixel camera is ideal for building entrances and parking lots, where detailed images, such as people’s faces and car license plates, are required.
Both of the new cameras incorporate an advanced progressive scan CCD with ExwavePRO technology, providing unrivalled clear and detailed images for surveillance monitoring applications. Unlike conventional network cameras that incorporate progressive scan CCDs with primary colour filters, these cameras use a complementary colour filter to provide amazingly bright and high-resolution images, even in dimly lit environments, which is a common requirement for surveillance monitoring.
In addition, the new units are the first to feature Sony’s unique ‘Light Funnel’ technology which combines image data gathered from multiple horizontally and vertically aligned pixels to provide extremely bright image output, even when monitoring moving objects. This function can be activated automatically in response to surrounding light conditions or on a pre-specified time schedule.
“These new fixed-type cameras offer a significant leap forward in delivering the optimum monitoring solution thanks to the innovative technology inside,” Peter Norman, Sony Australia’s Group Marketing Manager, Business Solutions Division. “The leap forward in capabilities provided by our first megapixel camera, ExwavePRO and Light Funnel technologies will provide this new range with the ability to output extremely clear and detailed images in even the most challenging lighting environments.”
Common to both cameras are features such as a Day/Night mode setting that provides extremely bright images, even when monitoring objects during challenging settings such as dusk and in dimly lit environments; variable gamma settings that help to capture high-contrast images; bi-directional audio options; a slow shutter mode for additional bright image output; voice alert function for pre-recorded audio files; and solid PTZ which allows users to conserve bandwidth by viewing images at lower resolutions. The cameras also feature dual streaming capability at a frame rate of up to 30fps.
These features create not only high-quality images, but intelligent and efficient operational flexibility. Providing high sensitivity levels in a compact and slim body inherited from CCTV cameras, the SNC-CM120 and the SNC-CS20 are perfect choices for surveillance monitoring applications.
