CLIMATE CHANGE – A HUGE OPPORTUNITY ….. FINALLY SOME GOOD NEWS!
3 September, 5.30-6.30pm Climate Change – A Huge Opportunity ….. Finally Some Good News! Public Lecture
Melbourne University, Lower Lecture Theatre, Institute of Land and Food Resources (bldg 142), Parkville
As part of Melbourne University’s 2008 Dean's Lecture Series, Climate Change – A Huge Opportunity ….. Finally Some Good News!, will be presented in September.
The lecture asks questions such as:
- What if Australia truly led local action on climate change?;
- What if we truly valued our abilities and reflected this in genuine community involvement?; and
- Can what we do in our towns really make a difference to our global climate crisis?
Join Environmentalist of the Year Arron Wood, as he answers those questions with a resounding yes!
“It is very easy to feel overwhelmed and insignificant, but what we do at a local level really does matter,” he says.
“The future is not out there, but something we create every day with our actions.”
From Arron’s presentation, you’ll learn that you can make a difference now and for the future of your kids. His presentation will also touch on the environment as a social science that can unite communities, cultures and countries.
After graduating from a Bachelors in Forest Science from the University of Melbourne, Arron is now the Director of Firestarter Pty Ltd, an environmental communication and education consultancy business driven by his strong interest in getting the community involved in the environment.
His other achievements include being 2001 Young Australian of the Year and 2006 United Nations Individual Award for Outstanding Service to the Environment.
