Loud Shirt Day

It is time to dust off your best Hawaiian or flashiest wide-lapel disco shirt as Australia braces itself for a day of anti-office-drab this Friday May 16. Hot on the heels of Australian Fashion Week, Loud Shirt Day invites the public to wear ‘loud’ attire instead of their usual work, school or sporting gear.

Loud Shirt Day is an annual event that raises money for vital services for deaf children. More than 800 schools and organisations in NSW and ACT will participate in 2008.

Insiders are expecting Australia’s ‘loudest’ dressed bosses to use the opportunity to showcase their closet horror stories. The public is being invited to nominate their boss or teacher.

Those nominated so far include:
Telstra’s Sol Trujillo – white suits;
Sydney Mayor Clover Moore – necklaces;
Ksubi’s George Gorrow – sunglasses;
Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki – everything; and
Jono Coleman – shirts.

Loud Shirt Day is an annual event that raises money for vital services for deaf children. More than 800 schools and organisations in NSW and ACT will participate in 2008.
