LGMA and LGA team up to launch job network

By Staff Writer

A new and job search network has been introduced by the Local Government Managers Australia (LGMA), in partnership with the Local Government Association of South Australia (LGA), to increase community awareness of the job prospects available in South Australian Local Government.

Shape Your World is a web-based employment tool which takes people through an introduction to the opportunities offered through employment with Local Government, LGA executive director, Wendy Campana said.

"Local Government offers apprenticeships and traineeships, through State and Federal Government training schemes, in a wide range of career choices,” she said.

“We offer comprehensive training for people wishing to return to the workforce.”

The program helps individuals build a resumé, complete a job application and discover opportunities open through Local Government.

"We are very excited about the Shape Your World concept and the opportunities it will open up for so many people who are looking for an interesting and important career through Local Government.

"Local Government offers an extensive array of career options and pathways for everyone from working in metropolitan environments to rural and coastal regions in a whole range of job opportunities," Ms Campana said.
